It is with great pride and excitement we announce that we have won for the 3rd year in a row as the Treasure Coast’s preferred moving and storage company!

Hurricane Preparedness

2016 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON FORECAST

It’s that time of year here in Florida when we watch the weather rather closely. That is because it’s The Atlantic Hurricane Season which runs from June 1 through November 30 (encompassing the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico).  Luckily for us, the 2016 Atlantic Basin hurricane season is expected to have average activity close to the median levels from 1981 to 2010.

However, even tropical storms can cause a lot of damage and that is why White Glove Moving & Storage strives to assist our friends and neighbors when it comes to the heavy lifting.  If there is a storm brewing, we can help bring all outdoor patio furniture, fixtures and accessories into our climate controlled storage and it can stay as long as short as needed with delivery service available. Want your stuff simply moved into your garage while you are away; we can do that too! Perhaps you have your parents that need some assistance moving and you are not close by; we’d be honored to lend a helping, caring hand. Even assistance with crating and packing pieces that you may want shipped to wherever you are are skills we can provide and the best part is we have no minimums unlike other movers who charge for 4 hours even it only takes them two.  Should you have just some general moving questions; we are always here and willing to navigate you through the process. In the meantime, here are some interesting facts to share:

How are hurricanes classified and what are hurricane categories?

A. The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale is a 1-5 rating based on the hurricane’s present intensity. This is used to give an estimate of the potential property damage and flooding expected along the coast from a hurricane landfall. Wind speed is the determining factor in the scale, as storm surge values are highly dependent on the slope of the continental shelf in the landfall region. Wind speeds are measured using a 1-minute average.

Saffir-Simpson Wind (mph) Hurricane Example
Category One 74 – 95 Allison (1995), Danny (1997)
Category Two 96 – 110 Bonnie (1998), George (1998), Gustav (2002)
Category Three 111 – 130 Roxane (1995), Fran (1996), Rita (2005)
Category Four 131 – 155 Opal (1995), Iniki (1992), Charley (2004), Katrina (2005)
Category Five 156 + Andrew (1992)

Q. What causes a hurricane to happen?

A tropical ocean and its atmosphere create the right conditions for a hurricane. Hurricanes draw their energy from the warm surface waters of the tropics (usually above 27°C, or about 81°F) and the latent heat of condensation. Powered by heat from the sea, they are steered by the easterly trade winds and the temperate westerlies, as well as by their own ferocious energy. Around their core, winds grow with great velocity, generating violent seas. Moving ashore, they sweep the ocean inward while spawning tornadoes and producing torrential rain and floods. When hurricanes move over cold water or over large landmasses, they can die out quickly because they lose the power of the heat and condensation.

Fun Facts About Florida & the Treasure Coast

It is no wonder that folks love to live in Florida and why many move here, especially to the Treasure Coast.
Perhaps, it is because in Vero Beach we are considered the Start of the Tropics. We have an unusual mix of vegetation found in the coastal Carolinas, ancient oak trees and pine forests all blended with swaying palms and colorful blooms of typical Caribbean tropics. It’s great climate to raise a garden and a family!

Did you know that the Florida state tree is the Sabal Palm, the state flower is the orange blossom, teh state bird is the mockingbird and the state reptile is the alligator?

The Blue Cypress Lake is the largest lake on the Treasure Coast. It’s over 6,500 acres wide, has an average depth of 8 feet and a 21 mile shoreline surrounded by 29,000 acres of marsh, swamp and cypress forest. It gets it’s name from the blue appearance of the cypress trees as the morning sun’s rays reflect off the water.

How did the Seminoles come about? The Native Americans actually gathered together from a variety of other tribes to form the Seminoles. They were known for their intricate clothing and bead work.

Did you know that The Jungle Trail, a narrow 7.5 mile unpaved road between Old Winder Beach Road and Hwy. A1A, is part of the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway System and listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. The road started as a means to transport citrus to packing houses on the mainland and became popular with tourists in the 1930’s.

Summer Food Drive

Now that summer is officially here and kids are out of school, the demand for non-perishable food items rises because no free or reduced lunches or breakfasts are made available.
That is why at White Glove Moving & Storage, we are hosting our 3rd Annual summer food drive. This is a terrific way for local businesses and moving customers to donate food without going out of their way logistically to have the food delivered or picked-up. So how does it work?
Local businesses agree to host a box and White Glove delivers a free box to them. Those businesses have customers and staff fill the boxes and White Glove arranges for a free pick-up on or before July 6th. To reserve a box please email Anna at AnnaV@WhiteGloveUSA.net and fill up from June 13th-July 6th.

Benefits of an In-Home Estimate

We have all heard the scary stories of rogue movers who say the cost of a move will be one price then raise it 3x’s the quoted amount before finally releasing the goods. How terrible!
That is why at White Glove Moving we stress the importance of taking advantage of our free in-home estimates when it comes to booking your move. Why? Because when it comes to the actual moving day, the right size crew and truck are guaranteed when a relocation specialist has been onsite and can deliver back the right notes to Operations. Tight angles, number of stairs, any possible special tools for the job are all made mention when someone is at your current location and can be accounted for prior to the move beginning.

In home walk through

What else makes it great? Say you want to do some of your own packing and just leave the high-end and heavy stuff to the pros. Your assigned relocation coordinator can tell you the correct number of boxes and sizes so you don’t over or under buy the supplies you need. Should you want the White Glove Moving & Storage team to do the full pack, the assigned moving coordinator can make all necessary notes of the items so proper packaging supplies are brought when the moving process begins.

The real benefit is that your mover is going to be more accurate with a price no matter the destination when viewing the scope of your move in person, onsite than simply quoting over the phone with lots of variables at play. Perhaps the move is so small but going a great distance shipping the items will be more cost effective than hiring an actual mover. At White Glove we can provide that solution with the help of our sister company Pak Mail Beachside coming up with the most cost effective game plan for our customers. Of course, at White Glove Moving & Storage over the phone estimates are provided from our seasoned team and for smaller moves based strictly on non-binding hourly rates it is a great fit for busy folks. However, if you have decades of memories and prized possessions in need of a full pack and move; take advantage of the free quote and know that at White Glove Moving & Storage we provide peace of mind every time! For your complimentary survey please call 772-778-4750 or visit us online at www.whitegloveusa.com.

Benefits of Using White Glove Moving & Storage

Wouldn’t it be great if everything always went according to plan? But does it?

Of course not! That is why when closings get delayed or construction is slowed due to weather, the team at White Glove can adjust and ensure all your goods are kept safe until delivery can be arranged.  Can all movers do that? No, because they typically have only a few trucks and if they are booked out all your items have to get off the truck and the more handling done can often lead to the possibility of more damages incurred.  Furthermore, with White Glove having only full-time, trained and background checked employees; we know no matter your must have date of delivery we will have good men on-hand to do the job right.

a group of trucks

Speaking of storing items, at White Glove we offer full service storage solutions that make sense. We only charge for the amount of space that is being used and we offer pro-rated rates so you are only being billed for the length of time your items are stored with us. Better still, we provide inventory barcoded tracking for all items we take into possession allowing you the ease of having things delivered out of storage if requested by simply referring to your list. For those moving to Florida and the Treasure Coast area from out of state, should you use a different carrier and have them deliver to White Glove for your storage; we can use our check-in system to ensure we have everything you sent down. The facility is full of loading docks able to handle trucks of all sizes and is climate as well as humidity controlled while being a fully secure warehouse so you know your goods are safe and protected.

residential storage

Additionally, it is important to know that you have a company who is always looking out for your best interests.  At White Glove, we know if you are moving just a few pieces a great distance it can be more cost effective to ship those goods using our sister company, Pak Mail Beachside, instead of having those select items “moved” by the mover.  Or perhaps you want some stuff sent to family members in another state but the rest is coming with  you; we can arrange and price for all that without you having to go through the hassle. When onsite performing our free estimates we can help decipher what is going to be the best solution for your needs.

As previously mentioned, our men are fully background check, trained and undergo ongoing training throughout the year. We take great pride in the caliber of crews coming into your own and ensure there will be peace of mind every time when choosing White Glove to perform your move.

Help Getting Stuff Home

Have you ever fallen in love with a table, dresser or chair that was just too big to fit in your vehicle? Many have and that’s why White Glove & Pak Mail Beachside have created flat rate pick-up and delivery services whether it is just one man needed for the job or two.

For just $50 an hour for one guy or $95 for two we will get your item(s) from wherever you bought it throughout the Treasure Coast and deliver it to your home. Even place it in the spot you see fit; take out the old too should you want.  Time over the hour will be billed at 30 minute increments but you have you peace of mind in knowing the job will be done right by licensed, insured professionals.

501clipped

At White Glove Moving, Storage & Delivery we have been providing peace of mind for over 13 years and value the relationship we have with our customers who use us for just one item or an entire move whether it is across the street or across the country.
