Q&A with White Glove President, Caleb Clements

Celebrating 22 years as trusted moving and storage providers, White Glove proudly calls the Treasure Coast home and cherishes its role as a community partner. Recently, we had a Q&A session with White Glove’s President, Caleb Clements, to discuss the industry and share insights on trends amidst our rapidly growing population.

Q: The secret is out that the Treasure Coast is a desirable place to live because of its overall safety, and “affordability with a coastline.”  Are newcomers choosing new construction or pre-built homes? What is the split of those coming from another state versus elsewhere in Florida?

A: New construction is very attractive right now for those who do not want the maintenance older homes require.  Homeowners’ insurance is also easier to get and at a greater savings for new construction. So, we are seeing a lot of our customers opt for the new resort type of communities found throughout our area and the state.

At White Glove Moving & Storage, we are proud of our new construction expertise and protocols, making the experience as seamless as possible for our customers.  As an interstate agent with Bekins Vanlines, we help families relocate both into and out of Florida with ease, doing as much or as little as they need done. Yet, there are many folks coming to the Treasure Coast from south Florida who enjoy the slower speed our cities have to offer.

Wherever your move takes you, we provide free estimates and bound pricing. Our team was recently recognized as Bekins Van Lines’ Agent of the Year. With our exceptional crew, we take pride in offering competitive rates without hidden fees. As a Torch Award-winning company with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, we are committed to excellence. After all, as Benjamin Franklin wisely noted, “The bitterness of poor quality far outlasts the sweetness of a cheap price.”

Q: Homes priced right are selling as quick as 1-4 months. What happens if someone does not know where they are moving to yet?

A: The average new construction house can take 12-18 months to complete. Since day one, White Glove has been able to alleviate the stress of where prized possessions can be kept safe. Our unique warehouses, equipped with loading docks and top-notch security, provide climate and humidity-controlled storage for our customers complete with detailed inventory lists of their items ensuring everything we bring in comes out on move day.

Unlike the many self-serve storage facilities popping up all over, our full-service storage does not allow unsupervised access to anyone and requires an appointment to view the inventory. We are the best solution for those who want to take advantage of a stress-free storage solution where the only detail needed is your move out date. The best part is that this comes at an incredibly competitive price point.

Q: What about homeowners who wish to renovate?

Moving and storage solutions for renovations is a big part of our business. For contractors to do their jobs, be it new flooring or fresh paint, having household items out of the way makes the entire process faster and better.  Our trained movers can simply shift items within one’s home or bring it all into our storage facility for as long as needed; no long term storage commitments required.

Q: Many say hiring a professional moving company is too expensive or have heard horror stories. Why choose White Glove?

Choosing the cheapest mover is the common denominator of the horror stories shared about unethical moving brokers who take deposits and never show or worse, hold items hostage until a higher fee is paid. Our team is two decades strong because we support local and do right by our customers and employees. Our relocation specialists spend the time to understand the customers’ needs, educate them on the moving process, and offer up tips to ensure the relocation goes as easy and stress free as possible. We do not spend money on billboards or pay to sponsor a professional sports team, rather we support local youth sports and charities headquartered here. We do not require deposits and stand by our pricing because every move requires an in-home or virtual survey. I am proud of my team and the good work we do. At White Glove, we aim to be your top choice for movers and deliver the best moving experience possible.

Moving with Pets: Advice & Tips

Whether moving across the street or country, moving with a pet can add some extra stress to a move. Will your pet like the new space? Are they able to fly or will you have to drive? What if there is a delay in the delivery and if so, how will that affect your pets’ comfort? With over 22 years of moving experience, our White Glove Moving team has some really useful tips to share along with the help of our vanline, Bekins:

Remember, choosing to have an onsite complementary survey prior to your move is the best way to be educated about the entire process. With 52 full time employees, we have the ability to make moves of all sizes and distances a reality. Keeping in mind, demand is still high and proper planning with at least 2-4 weeks advanced notice is best to ensure dates and expectations are all met with ease. The estimate takes approximately one hour and can be done in person or virtually utilizing smart phone technology. It is our sincere wish to be the movers you choose to help make your relocation as cost effective and pleasurable as possible. Happy planning!

May is National Moving Month

May is such a wonderful time of the year. Here, in Florida, kids graduate from school and/or begin to prepare for summer break. Nationally, we celebrate all Moms the 2nd Sunday of the month. In fact, it is a theme White Glove Moving fully embraces and had fun throughout the Treasure Coast highlighting moms during our presentations leading up to the holiday. This included tying in moms of the animal kingdom, humankind, and moving details for our Palm City Chamber and St. Lucie Realtor events. In Martin County, the realtors association allowed White Glove to host Market Watch and we tied in fun facts about Mother’s Day along with moving and storage; each volunteer always takes home a prize. Then, in Stuart for the Future of Aviation panel hosted by the Stuart Chamber of Commerce, White Glove Moving was able to incorporate some Fact and Fiction fun about the companies each panelist represented and blended those details into moving and storage while also giving away some worthwhile Mother’s Day inspired gifts. Better yet, June 28th, we will be one of the sponsors for the Motherhood Exhibit captured by Jolee Art & Photography; click to learn more. Additionally, at the end of each May, we pay homage to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms during Memorial Day. It is a busy month, full of bright and happy colors; maybe that is the reason it is also considered national moving month…because people are out and about making plans and embracing change.

Throughout much of the nation, as May brings the sunshine, house sales tick up. Whereas in Florida the heat and humidity is what increases. Though historically we have seen a slow down, post covid we notice that the demand for moving and storage in the Treasure Coast has stabled during the summer months. In fact, with more people staying in their homes remodeling is on the rise. Even with the items being shifted into garages, spare rooms, or into our climate controlled facility, having professional movers is a must. The items are all properly protected and moved in mere hours, it is worthwhile and cost effective. As always, no matter how big or far your moving needs may be; it is always a free estimate. 772-778-4750

Yet, as the demand for moving services rise for many during the summer months, so does the ability to prey on unsuspecting folks by rogue and predatory fraudulent moving brokers. Recently, a situation occurred with a local realtor in the Treasure Coast to a customer of hers who booked online with the cheapest mover she could find versus taking the recommendation of her agent to use a reputable and real moving company. Interestingly enough, the bid for us to move her versus what the rogue movers quoted was just $400 difference yet in the end, with their scare tactics and ransom demands, she paid more than $2k more…here’s an impromptu Q&A the realtor asked us to help with after the horrific experience was over for her client.

White Glove Moving & Storage Celebrates 2021 Success with a National Award for Sales & Quality Service

In many ways, 2021 was a tough year for small business owners. Thousands of businesses closed during the beginning of the pandemic to stop the spread. Then was the issues related to staffing resulting from the “great resignation.” Local business, White Glove Moving & Storage, however, has some good news to celebrate: the company earned Bekins Van Lines’ Silver Sales Award for 2021 for their hard work in a challenging environment. Bekins is the fourth largest household goods carrier in the United States, and White Glove, alongside about 400 agencies nationwide, partners with the van line for all their interstate moves. Bekins’ sales recognition award program recognizes agencies within the network who educate customers moving into or out of Florida and book their moves over the course of the year. The volume figures used for the various award levels are a summation of booking revenues for those customers moved. White Glove Moving & Storage is one of only ten Bekins agencies to achieve the Silver Sales Award in 2021.

“The environment has been tough,” said A.J. Schneider, President of Bekins Van Lines. “ White Glove has perfected the art of educating customers on the interstate moving process and setting their expectations for the whole process. They’re really a guide for the customer through what can be a stressful endeavor, so it’s not surprising so many customers want to work with this group.”

Additionally, this local leader is also the recipient of the Spire Award. The Spire program is designed to recognize moving companies in the Bekins Van Lines network that offer quality experiences to those using their services. It combines customer feedback and other Service Excellence performance metrics with data throughout the moving process to determine whether the agent has met the high-quality criteria. White Glove received the distinctive Spire Award again, which honors moving companies in the network that consistently provide an excellent moving experience for their customers, during the recent vanline summit accepted by Principle, Caleb Clements.

In summary, the team at White Glove is proud of the work we do to make moving as easy, cost effective and pleasurable as possible. We hope to be a “go-to” resource for you to mention to friends and family who may want to plan a move in the future whether it’s local or nationwide. What to Know When Moving Post Covid

Though the world as we knew it shut down in March of 2020 due to the pandemic, a whole new trend emerged; the ability to work from anywhere. Thus, many families and professionals found solace in being able to move back to their hometowns or seek new lifestyles outside of densely populated cities. That freedom directly launched a nationwide uptick in real estate transactions. Which then also created added volume to the ancillary businesses that support the real estate agents; all during a time when labor force was at an all time low.

Planning a move in 2021 into 2022? Here’s a few things to keep in mind from the Treasure Coast’s most trusted moving and storage providers, interstate agents with Bekins Vanlines, White Glove Moving & Storage.

  1. Schedule in Advance.

Pre-covid it was common for a company White Glove’s size, 16 trucks and nearly 50 full time employees, could service a local or an interstate move with as little as 7-14 days’ notice. However, with nationwide labor low and pockets of covid outbreaks still occurring, it is highly recommended to book your survey and discuss moving dates before even listing your property. Many top-rated companies are booking out 4-6 weeks in advance for both local and nationwide moving services; don’t delay.

  1. Accountability.

Many smaller movers bid low with a non-bound price that is sure to go up, require a deposit and then come moving day are unable to service your move. Why? They want the work but run into weather delays or labor shortages that make it impossible to show up when you need them most. On average our White Glove office receives 3-5 calls daily with devastated consumers who had “no-show” movers. When your moving date is critical to uphold, you need to know you are hiring movers that are accountable to show up and stick by their price which is based on: experience, reputation and a sound foundation.

  1. Used Materials.

Due to covid liability, used boxes and other materials are not available as before. Thus, make sure to get an idea of how much material you will need to pack yourself when receiving your free moving quote. Often, professional movers such as White Glove will offer material discounts if hired as the moving partner and will arrange for box delivery. Packing kits are also available for purchase at White Glove’s office located at 2175 45th St in Vero Beach for those looking to pack up for a home remodel or estate downsizing project and not in need of hiring a moving company. Keep in mind, if you wish to have your professional moving team do the packing it can be arranged cost effectively and all materials will be new.

Moving Books for Kids of Various Ages

Without a doubt, moving can be quite stressful. In fact, most people fear packing the most because of years of accumulation. Yet, if you are moving with kids, or even if you are not, packing can be the best part. Mainly, it allows you a chance to get organized again. Better still, it allows you to figure out what you do and don’t need. Thereafter, it is likely someone else gets to benefit from the stuff you no longer want. Moreover as you sort you can reflect and that is always rewarding. However, for kids, this can be challenging depending on their age and attachment to the home. So, though there are lots of cool ways to get them focusing on the positive of a move, books can help do the rest.

Hence, White Glove Moving & Storage has come up with a read aloud featuring a number of great books to share with kids. Also, it is a great idea to purchase a book or two and together write how they are feeling in the covers of the books. Then, down the road you can take the books back out and read about their fears or excitement and evaluate how it worked out. Important to mention, should you hire a mover this summer, rest assured at White Glove we are adhering to all CDC protocol and are able to help you get into your new home safely.

Firstly, the Berenstein Bears Moving Day. As a fan of the series, this is an easy book with great images geared to children ten and under. As always, the message is wholesome and describes how change can be difficult yet typically not as bad as projected.

Next, another moving book geared towards elementary school aged or even toddlers is Tigger’s Moving Day. Of course, we all know and love Winnie the Pooh and all his pals; however, did you know how Tigger chose his tree house? Well, join Anna Valencia Tillery on this reading to see if it’s a good fit for your family.

Another option, try I Like Where I Am. In this book, discover how tough change can be for a six year old boy yet how rewarding it can be too. As a bonus, this one is full of rhythms and great illustrations.

Finally, for our first batch of moving books, this one is for girls or perhaps boys nine to fourteen. Written by Meg Cabot, this is a a witty book.  Most certainly, moving as you get a bit older can be challenging and in this first book of a series Allie Finkle tells it like is. Best part, your child can find a new character to learn and grow with since there are other books to follow.

Purchase the set of 6 books here.

In conclusion, it is likely you have your own questions about moving. Likely, you too are overwhelmed and feeling like you bit off too much as a parent with covid and the like. Yet, as Treasure Coast moving experts, you can count us to make it easier. Perhaps, you need some short term storage while you do some repairs in your new space? We do that.  Or, you want to get rid of a number of items after all. Not to worry, we can help with donation locations too. If you are planning a move, call your trusted community partners at White Glove to be an ongoing resource as you begin the process.
