To Tip or Not to Tip?

When it comes to hiring professional movers there are a lot of advantages like:

  1. It is all typically done in a day. Bonus!
  2. There is no back pain or aches to be had by the customer. Ideal!
  3. All you have to do is point and the White Glove team will place so all pieces are in the right spots in the new location.
  4.  You get the pleasure of working with a nice team that is helpful, considerate, patient and well trained.

With those key points in mind, like other service oriented businesses, sometimes tipping can feel like the right thing to do and is always appreciated by those hard working professionals out in the field.  Of course, tipping is not expected and to further elaborate here’s a short video from our VP of Marketing.

White Glove is Now an Interstate Agent with Bekins Vanlines!

What makes Bekins so great? Unrivaled expertise and a commitment to customer service.

As one of the oldest moving companies in the United States, Bekins Van Lines was founded by brothers John and Martin Bekins in 1891. Bekins began operations in Sioux City, Iowa, with just three horse-drawn vans and twelve employees. Present day, they are one of the nation’s largest full-service moving and storage companies with nearly 150 locations throughout the United States. More importantly, Bekins is proud to be using information technology and logistics to ensure moves go smoothly no matter the distance.

Over the years, Bekins has been involved with many firsts and important milestones within the moving industry.

  • Bekins was the first to specialize in moving household goods.
  • When covered moving vans were introduced, they carried the Bekins name.
  • Bekins led the moving and storage business away from horse-drawn wagons with the first motor trucks in 1903.
  • The first concrete and steel warehouses were built by Bekins in 1906.
  • The first transcontinental motor van move was completed by Bekins in 1928.
  • In 1960, Bekins established Bekins World Wide, later known as Bekins International.
  • Bekins became a leader in residential delivery service, later named HomeDirectUSA in 1994.
  • Bekins led an industry consortium to develop the CPM (Certified Professional Movers) program, a CD-ROM based training module in 1995.
  • Bekins became the first van line to earn CPM status in 1996.
  • Bekins is the first van line to install nationwide warehouses and storage management systems to assist in order management and tracking in 1997.
  • Bekins is purchased by Wheaton Van Lines in March 2012.

Getting Ready to Move Once Summer Starts?

It is hard to believe that Summer is just around the corner; but it is!  And like many Americans you might be considering moving once the kids are out of school.  Whether it is because you simply want a new home, relocating for a job, or just want to be closer to family; the team at White Glove Moving & Storage has some great tips to share especially for relocating out of Florida.

As an agent for National Vanlines, we take great pride in our ability to make moving easy no matter the distance but when moving out of state it requires some additional planning that is not needed when doing a local move. Here’s a couple of things we feel are important to share as you begin to plan:

6-8 Weeks Prior to Move: 2-3 Weeks Prior to Move: 1 Week Before Move: Moving Day
Inventory your household possessions. Decide which items to move and which not to move.

Call White Glove for a free estimate. We offer professional packing crews that will save countless hours or we can inform you on number of boxes needed.  Less lead time is needed for local moves. 866-GLOVE10

Create a moving binder to keep track of all inventory, estimates and receipts.

Secure your ideal move date with White Glove; no deposits required.

Fill and transfer prescription medications

Advise insurance companies of your pending move and update policies.

Make separate shipping arrangements for pets and plants

Make personal travel plans for your move, such as airline tickets, hotel reservations, serving of your vehicle and road maps for your trip routing.

If packing yourself, start now and be sure to clearly label each box.

Defrost refrigerator and freezer. Allow sufficient drying time to prevent mildew.

Dispose of food items that require refrigeration.

Collect all items from separate locations (office, school, clubs, etc.) and bring them home to pack and move.

Make arrangements for child care and pet care on moving day. Be sure to obtain your vet records.

Return library books or items borrowed from neighbors or friends.

Remove and pack bed linens in dresser drawers for convenience or in cartons.

Pack items to be carried in your car and mark each carton: DO NOT MOVE!

Be available to check items on your inventory sheet as the leave your house to be loaded on the van. When all cartons and furnishings have been loaded on the van, conduct a last minute walk through.

Check all closets, make sure windows are shut and locked, lights are turned off and doors are locked.

Utilize the Updater link to transfer utilities, publications, mailing address & more

Gather family records: medical, dental, school, birth, marriage, financial, insurance, wills, forward transcripts to your new school system.

Finalize your living arrangements, home-owners/renters insurance as new location.

Cancel club memberships (most require advance notice)

Use the Updater links to start the process of changing addresses, utilities and more.

Safely dispose of or give away all flammable materials (paints, paint removers, other solvents, and propane tanks). These items cannot be moved in the van.

If moving to a new state, transfer your driver’s license.

Transfer funds from checking and savings accounts to new accounts in your new community.

Items that are affixed to a wall or ceiling must be taken down in order for the movers to pack and ship them. This includes ceiling fans, light fixtures, drapery rods, etc.

Trash cans and barbeque grills must be free of debris and washed out prior to loading day.

Walk through the new location and verify placement of furniture.

Get copies of all shipping documents including proof of payment to your movers.

Enjoy the “Welcome to Your New Home” Bag.

Should something be missing, find something damaged or to schedule a debris removal call White Glove.

Moving can be overwhelming and scary for children who don’t want to leave their friends or school; but it can also be made into a great deal of fun. Having professionals assist with the logistics and heavy lifting makes it easier for you to focus on making the kids feel more excited about the whole endeavor. We recommend Moving Day by the Berenstein Bears as a good quick read, no matter your child’s age, to help them understand they are not alone in feeling scared about the move.

By using the Updater program offered at no charge from White Glove Moving you can even reduce lots of hours on phone changing addresses for bills and publications; bonus! One less thing to worry about or take time to do. So if moving this Summer is happening for your family please call White Glove for a free estimate, reserve your ideal move dates and have all your questions answered by the movers who provide peace of mind every time. 866-GLOVE10 or visit our other pages at www.whitegloveusa.com

Benefits of Using White Glove Moving & Storage

Wouldn’t it be great if everything always went according to plan? But does it?

Of course not! That is why when closings get delayed or construction is slowed due to weather, the team at White Glove can adjust and ensure all your goods are kept safe until delivery can be arranged.  Can all movers do that? No, because they typically have only a few trucks and if they are booked out all your items have to get off the truck and the more handling done can often lead to the possibility of more damages incurred.  Furthermore, with White Glove having only full-time, trained and background checked employees; we know no matter your must have date of delivery we will have good men on-hand to do the job right.

a group of trucks

Speaking of storing items, at White Glove we offer full service storage solutions that make sense. We only charge for the amount of space that is being used and we offer pro-rated rates so you are only being billed for the length of time your items are stored with us. Better still, we provide inventory barcoded tracking for all items we take into possession allowing you the ease of having things delivered out of storage if requested by simply referring to your list. For those moving to Florida and the Treasure Coast area from out of state, should you use a different carrier and have them deliver to White Glove for your storage; we can use our check-in system to ensure we have everything you sent down. The facility is full of loading docks able to handle trucks of all sizes and is climate as well as humidity controlled while being a fully secure warehouse so you know your goods are safe and protected.

residential storage

Additionally, it is important to know that you have a company who is always looking out for your best interests.  At White Glove, we know if you are moving just a few pieces a great distance it can be more cost effective to ship those goods using our sister company, Pak Mail Beachside, instead of having those select items “moved” by the mover.  Or perhaps you want some stuff sent to family members in another state but the rest is coming with  you; we can arrange and price for all that without you having to go through the hassle. When onsite performing our free estimates we can help decipher what is going to be the best solution for your needs.

As previously mentioned, our men are fully background check, trained and undergo ongoing training throughout the year. We take great pride in the caliber of crews coming into your own and ensure there will be peace of mind every time when choosing White Glove to perform your move.

Help Getting Stuff Home

Have you ever fallen in love with a table, dresser or chair that was just too big to fit in your vehicle? Many have and that’s why White Glove & Pak Mail Beachside have created flat rate pick-up and delivery services whether it is just one man needed for the job or two.

For just $50 an hour for one guy or $95 for two we will get your item(s) from wherever you bought it throughout the Treasure Coast and deliver it to your home. Even place it in the spot you see fit; take out the old too should you want.  Time over the hour will be billed at 30 minute increments but you have you peace of mind in knowing the job will be done right by licensed, insured professionals.

501clipped

At White Glove Moving, Storage & Delivery we have been providing peace of mind for over 13 years and value the relationship we have with our customers who use us for just one item or an entire move whether it is across the street or across the country.

Happy New Year #Treasure Coast!
