Silver Certified Agents

Working with older people requires more than just patience. It requires expertise and systems, White Glove Moving & Storage is proud to be  Silver Certified with Bekins Vanlines. Recently, an opportunity to be featured in the Silver magazine was presented to our team to highlight a recent interstate move with an elderly customer and it just so happened that one had transpired that involved dear friends. Here’s that story and a prime example of how White Glove Moving & Storage, A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau, can be a trusted relocation expert for you and your loved ones as well.

Sydna and Bill S. moved to Vero Beach, FL from Powder Springs, GA in late April of 2026 to be closer to their eldest daughter and her family. Now in their mid-eighties, the couple has spent decades in their Georgia home and having to downsize from 4500 sq ft to 2100 sq ft with no extra space for a workshop was a lot for the couple to process in a short amount of time.

The estimator, Steven Gold, was patient and precise; educating them along the way on how items of great weight will affect their price and if the items are not going to be used in Florida, they may not be worth taking and could be of more value as something sold in Georgia. Additionally, knowing of the couple’s aliments and quick turn around for the move, a full pack was proposed and agreed upon to help take the bulk of the burden off the nervous pair.

White Glove Moving & Storage’s long-haul coordinator, Bruce Gold, was in constant contact with the duo and answered all their questions and concerns with specifics and understanding. Richard Senones was the driver and he along with his helpers were careful and courteous during the entire process. Though there were no specific challenges that were faced, as an elderly couple having to face big changes, the moods were not always lofty and the stress apparent at many stages throughout the relocation. Yet in the end, with compassion and expertise on behalf of the crew and White Glove staff, the couple soon began to look forward making the new house a home as the final boxes came off the truck; even if it was smaller. As Bill said, if he can’t build in his workshop any longer at least he can fish every day in a stocked pond.

The next question from Silver Magazine focused on key conversations that need to be had with folks during an elderly person’s move going over state lines. Having just executed the move for the couple above, this conversation was fresh.  For older adult moves, White Glove Moving & Storage, talks to the family members helping with the move in addition to the older couple to truly articulate what the scope of work and details are. Often, we are finding that a full pack is a blessing as many of the moves are time sensitive and can be overwhelming for the seniors to wrap their brains around what will go into the new home versus what is best to get rid of.
Yet, we have also found that unpacks, taking everything out and leaving it on various surfaces with no real game plan to put the items away, is something many families would rather not have the stress of. Rather, we have learned, they would prefer to take their time to unpack, sort, and streamline what goes where. Thereby, affording them the time slowly make the new space a home. However, people initially think they want an unpack, and they do not realize that it does not mean to put it all I the cupboards and closets. That is why we are certain to give a full explanation of the services and encouraging the families to have a plan for the unpack upon delivery and the immediate days that follow is a must. That includes sharing the contact information of trusted partners in the region that can do full organizational unpacks.

Additionally, White Glove relocations specialists are also encouraging the customer to put a follow up date on the calendar with the agents in the destination area to have the televisions, mirrors, and artwork hung. These pieces are often too big and heavy for the older adults and with years of experience, it is an easy task for the professional mover; however, the costs and timing must be thoroughly addressed prior to the delivery for smooth transitions.

Here’s the review left from Bill and Sydna:  “Our experience could not have been better. Their whole team from the beginning to the end informed us, checked in with us, and kept us up to date as to what was happening. The packers and the unpackers were considerate with our belongings and helped to place them where we wanted them to be. The workers were both fast and efficient. The driver was present and had everything planned. He kept track of all of our belongings and helped to assure us that they would be treated correctly, and they were. We thank everybody who was connected with our move. Thank you.”
